Hammer has really improved. He seems quicker than the previous two seasons.

Kaner's 1 on 4 routine gets old at times.

Hey JJ...Was wondering who would you like to see the Hawks face in the first round?
And what two teams would you like to match up and beat the hell out of each other in the first round?
How do you think the 1-8 seeds will play out at seasons end in the Western conference?

Great anaysis JJ especially your comparison of this year's team to 2009-2010 team. I would just add that both this team and the Cup team, seem to be a closely knit group with a lot of chemistry and belief in each other. And I add my prayers and thoughts for all those affected by yesterday's tragedy.

Good read as usual Al..I agree Oduya played well, I actually thought he played well against the Blues on Sunday too, which was kinda shocking..hope he can keep it up in the playoffs

Notice Keith lined up on the right point last night so his stick was on the strong side of the ice and he could one time passes much more quickly? He hasn't lined up on that side since 2010.

Seems since being paired with Duncan Norris, the ties behind the bench have involved the Hammer with the offense.

Yes, Kane's taking on the world routine is a bit stale.

Hello,

Been reading for a Long time finally decided to start posting. Who would everyone like to see finish number 8 and who would you not want to finish number 8?

Would love to see MIN drop to 8 or DAL grab the 8 spot

I think people would be uneasy about facing STL, DET, or CBJ with 8 spot despite the teams success against those three this year. Those are three teams the hawks likely only win by a goal or two every night come playoffs, if they win

Personally, I wouldn't mind if it was Dallas or Detroit finishing in the 8th spot for the playoffs. Either team would be a good match-up that would produce a favorable outcome for the Hawks.

Just want to say the people of Chicago are ABSOLUTE CLASS, watching last nights Anthem gave me goosebumps and goes to show that there are a lot of damn good people in this world to outweigh the D-BAGS.

Oh ya and you guys ahve a pretty good team too...

I'd rather not face St Louis, of the three: Col Det and Stl.

The team I don't want till the WCF is Vancouver. I'd rather they face LA and maybe Anaheim before they get us.

They seem to be jelling at the right time. Then again, I'd love to see the Hawks knock them out, just let them get softened up a bit.

At this point I don't think it matters. If the Hawks play their game.

The Oilers could use him next year, and it sounds like MacTavish is prepared to pay.

With the teams in the mix for #8 the only team I don't want is St Louis. Would love to see them in #6 going against Vancouver. Should be an interesting game tonite featuring those 2.

What a stupid schedule! No games till Friday. Then 6 in 9 days. Will need to cycle in fresh bodies. When can rosters be expanded esp. with Rockford not likely getting into the playoffs?

If Vancouver wins their division, the Hawks can't face them til the WCF, as if the seeds held in the 2nd round (1,2,3,4 all win), 3 would play 2.

To be honest I'm not worried who finished 8th. My only concern is that the Blackhawks start the playoffs playing their best hockey of the season and are healthy. We match up well against any team in the West, especially if everyone is playing at the top of their game. Our roster may not be perfect, but there aren't many that can match our depth (when healthy). Our 4th line would be the 3rd line on most teams and our 3rd could be the 2nd.

Saad - Toews - Hossa
Sharp - Bolland - Kane
Bickell - Shaw - Stalberg
Handzus - Kruger - Frolik
Carcillo, Bollig

Keith - Hjalmarsson
Leddy - Seabrook
Oduya - Rozsival
Brookbank

Crawford
Emery

Its funny how cyclical hockey can be. In 2010 we had an embarrassment of riches when it came to depth. In the following 2 seasons we underperformed due to a lack of depth. Now we're back to having a great level of depth.

Anything can happen in the playoffs, running into a hot goalie can turn your playoff dreams into a nightmare. But I can to give Stan and the rest of the management credit for putting/keeping together a team with this depth now and the future. By no means is this team perfect, but none are. At least this team has a legitimate shot at the cup now and likely for a couple of years. As fans this is what we want, a winning competitive team that makes us believe we can win it all (again).

Just imagine how truly scary this team would be with a power play. With all that talent they are what - 1 for the last 31? Plus - Sharp is hopefully health for the playoffs.

Vancouver hasn't beat a playoff team since Mar 23. They are a good team, but stats are easily padded when playing Edm, Cal and Col every other day.

I would gladly play Vancouver in the WCF (the only way it could happen). Means we would have a good chance to be in the Cup final.
